Dy CM for expeditious formulation, execution of hydropower projects | KNO

JAMMU, DECEMBER 13 (KNO) : Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh, today exhorted upon the officers for speedy formulation and expeditious execution of hydro power projects in the state. The Deputy CM, while addressing officers during a meeting convened here to discuss and work out strategies for development and implementation of hydro power projects, asked the concerned to optimally utilize the available power generation resources and potential in the state. Principal Secretary Finance Navin Choudhary, Commissioner Secretary PDD, Hridesh Kumar, Managing Director JKSPDC Shah Faesal and other senior officers were present in the meeting. Dr Singh directed the officers for ensuring that the pace of work on the ongoing power projects is speeded up at all levels saying that the same will go a long way in ensuring that proper augmentation of electric supply is ensued in the state, which does face shortage during lean periods. While referring to the Prime Ministers package, the Deputy Chief Minister said that a special component has already been earmarked for new power projects and now the onus lies on us to ensure that the funds are utilized in full by undertaking new ventures, which besides generating power would also ensure that employment generation of the areas in which they are being implemented also gets a boost. The meeting also discussed the issue of expediting hydro power projects in the state and also came up with various suggestions and measures regarding the same.(KNO)
